“Everyone needs animation for their business,” says David Mattock, Director of Full Rotation.
Full Rotation, based at Plymouth Science Park, is solely focused on producing ground breaking animations for firms around the globe.
“It helps to explain a product. Easy to understand visuals, voiceover and music is more entertaining and easier to understand than a manual consisting of 2000 words,” explains David, who became fascinated by moving images when he was studying at Plymouth College of Arts (some 20 years ago).
Since then he has worked around the world and his specialist abilities in creating motion design, together with 3D character animation, is a highly sought-after commodity.
At any one time David can have up to five projects on the go. Full Rotation focuses on the quality of production and the team can spend more than a week working on one animation, with a two-minute 3D film taking more than a month to produce.
“Our work has endless applications, from an animated introduction for a documentary through to safety videos. We can explain a product’s use through stylised frames, 3D effects and a sound storyboard which is designed to entertain, enthral and inform.”
David moved back to Devon last year and is delighted to be based at Plymouth Science Park. It allows him to go along to PSP’s networking meetings, so building up all important business contacts amongst the other 150 businesses on the park.
“PSP companies are focused on the future and, as such, being at the cutting edge of computer design allows us to interact with on-site firms who are keen to impart their ground-breaking technology in a simple, concise and entertaining way.”
“Businesses involved in science and technology lend themselves well to animation design work. We provided an animation for a cancer drug last year and have also provided 19 instructional videos for a specialist construction firm.”
“Plymouth Science Park is an integrated community with excellent, high end companies who readily engage with other businesses.”
