Chairman of the Prime Ministers Rural Dementia Group appears at International Conference

Ian Sherriff appears at an International Conference talking to 1000 people in Osaka and Tokyo

University of Plymouth dementia expert and Plymouth Science Park colleague Ian Sherriff spoke at a 2 day international conference in London that was video linked to around 1,000 people in Osada and Tokyo, Japan, on the 18th and 19th of February 2017. He met with Dr Kentaro Horibe and Yumi Shindo from the National Centre for Geriatrics and Gerontology in Japan.

“It was a really wonderful experience to talk to so many people about the work going on here in Plymouth. It’s the next step in an already great relationship with the Japanese community, who are keen to learn how to support people with dementia and their families.” – Ian Sherriff

Ian chairs for various dementia groups including the Prime Ministers Transport Group for Dementia and Plymouth Dementia Action Alliance. At the conference he described how the Plymouth University and companies including CityBus, BBC and Plymouth City Council have all put initiatives in place to help make life easier for those with the condition.
