Under a new contract for future services, NHS Wales has selected Microtest as one of two vendors to supply GP clinical IT systems in the country.
The award followed a rigorous procurement process that allows free and open competition among potential suppliers. Suppliers were asked to demonstrate a strong commitment and the ability to meet NHS Wales’ core clinical and technical requirements and the challenges of the wider Primary Care agenda.
Microtest has been supplying IT systems and software to GP practices for over 30 years and has been at the forefront of the movement towards integration and interoperability of systems. The company was recently named ‘IT Supplier of the Year 2017-2018’ in the prestigious national General Practice Awards. Microtest is currently in the process of introducing a new version of its core clinical system, Open Evolution, using the very latest cutting-edge technology, with the aim of making it the most intuitive and future-proof practice management system available in the UK.
Chris Netherton, MD of Microtest, said:
“We are delighted with this decision and really excited about the opportunity to work with new customers across NHS Wales. This was a very detailed and exacting process, but we were able to demonstrate that Microtest has all the capabilities required to meet the needs of GP Practices in NHS Wales – both now and well into the future.
“As a new supplier to the NHS Wales, we hope we can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table, which can benefit everyone involved. We have always prided ourselves on the quality of personal service that we give to our customers, and we will be working to ensure a smooth and successful implementation of this new contract.”
