Economy and Environment: How can we achieve a balance for sustainable growth?

June 1st - 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Noticed anything different recently? Bluer skies, no background traffic hum, fresher air, birdsong……wildlife? If so, you’re not alone.

Across the world the COVID 19 crisis has closed down manufacturing, transport corridors and energy use resulting in lower emissions, less pollution and improved air quality amongst other things. People are beginning to notice what they’ve been missing. But what will happen when things start up again? How can we retain all these unexpected benefits whilst supporting recovering economies, jobs and investments?

The task will be as challenging in Devon and Plymouth as it is internationally but there is no reason why going back to ‘normal’ should mean a return to the environmental impacts we left behind. Thinking and acting sustainably – even with the smallest of actions – needn’t be a barrier to a brighter, bolder and more resilient county. They can even be cost effective!

Our panellists will talk through some of the challenges and options but we’d like to hear what you think…….more of the same or better conditions for all? What would stop you? What do you want to see and what would help you achieve your aims?

Our expert panellist for this challenging topic:
Jackie Young, Urban Agenda
Marina Hoole, Co-founder of Green Forward, Exeter Uni One Planet MBA  and ) Senior Advisor at Devon Garden Foods
and Paul Edworthy,  from Dynamic Servers and Green Forward

Join us to experience our virtual panel session where we will be providing our business community with a platform where you can find expert advice in different subjects that are impacting on us all at this time, and the opportunity to ask questions of our panel about your own specific situations.

Following the sudden and unprecedented impact of COVID19 we completely understand the challenge businesses are facing.
