Two top regional lawyers join forces to undertake corporate finance deals and media work
Two top regional lawyers have teamed up to create a new law firm focused on corporate, commercial, media and intellectual property law.
Tim Jackman and Duncan White have chosen the prestigious Plymouth Science Park as their South West base.
With almost 40 years’ experience working for top London and regional law firms, as well as one of the country’s largest television and digital media production companies, Jackman and White have now set up their own practice to undertake corporate finance deals and media work.
Both directors have exceptionally impressive CVs. Prior to becoming the first Director of Legal and Business Affairs at the multi-award winning Plymouth based Twofour Group, Tim led the top rated Bond Pearce, now Womble Bond Dickinson, south west corporate finance team.
During his time at Bond Pearce he advised ambitious management teams on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investment, restructurings, exit plans and a raft of commercial arrangements. He was involved in some of the biggest transactions in the region.
At Twofour he was involved in all legal aspects of the company’s growth to become a leading TV production company and content and communications agency prior to its sale to ITV.
Duncan, who is a member of the Royal Television Society, began his legal career at Bond Dickinson, now Womble Bond Dickinson, before going on to spend five years as in-house counsel at Twofour where he was part of the group’s worldwide expansion.
He has considerable experience of advising on the development, financing and production of television and digital media projects, as well as dealing with a range of intellectual property and commercial issues.
Both Tim and Duncan are credited as experts in their respective fields in the Legal 500, the legal industry guide to top lawyers.
They have the benefit of a strong network of longstanding clients and professional contacts from their previous work and aim to continue to develop those long-term relationships with existing and new clients generally across the south west and the television and wider media sectors nationally.
‘We have the benefit of working only with clients we want to work with. We enjoy their company and enjoy working with them. If we cannot add value to a job or a situation we will say so and will ensure that we help our client to find an expert who can help them,’ explains Duncan.
‘We operate on a fixed price basis and our experience of working as in-house lawyers means we understand the importance of meeting tight deadlines and adding value, not simply cost. We offer a practical solution to whatever situation is presented to us.’
White Jackman are delighted to be based at Plymouth Science Park which has been able to offer a unique blend of corporate professionalism within the beauty of woodland and stunning views.
‘The diversity and ambition of many of the businesses at PSP is very exciting for us. That ambition matches our own, and we are excited to be working with some of them already.’ says Tim.
‘It reminds us of working at Twofour’s Plymouth headquarters, where there was such a positive, energetic and creative vibe which had been instilled from its inception, and yet out the window it was common to see deer in the car park.’
‘It was the same on our first day at PSP. There is an array of businesses with energy and ideas, and it’s not unusual to see four or five deer wandering around the site – it’s a fantastic working environment.’
Having corporate, commercial, media and intellectual property legal specialists at Plymouth Science Park will be a benefit to the large number of intellectual property rich companies based on the site which are looking to flourish.
